Cadden Family Vineyard

In 2013, continuing our pursuit of great Cabernet Vineyards, we were introduced to Hugh Cadden. Cadden Family Vineyards is about Family, Friends and Wine. And, of course, all exceptional wines begin in the vineyard. Cadden Family Vineyards is a small family-owned and operated vineyard estate located in the Pope Valley region of the Napa Valley. Hugh and Luanne Cadden first discovered the magic of the region in 1989 when they purchased their sixty acre ranch. However, it was not until 2007, and after much time exploring the vineyards of France, that Cadden Family Vineyards was born.

Cadden Family Vineyards is located in Pope Valley within the Napa Valley appellation. Situated on the back side of Howell Mountain in the northeast corner of the Napa Valley, the region is remarkable for its warmer days and nights due to its elevation, 600 to 900 feet, and the absence of any marine cooling from the Bay. The growing seasons are much warmer and dryer than those of the main valley and the resulting stress yields remarkable fruit with smaller berries and smaller clusters and concentrated and complex flavors.

Abutting the northeastern portion of the historic Juliana Vineyard at an elevation of about 690 feet, Cadden Family Vineyards comprises six acres which include four varietals; three acres of Cabernet Sauvignon, one acre of Cabernet Franc, one acre of Malbec and one acre of Sauvignon Blanc. This remarkable vineyard is farmed sustainably and tended to by vineyard manager Alejandro Maldonado and Tom Cadden, son of Hugh and Luanne.
