We are remarkably proud to offer our 2013 St. Helena, TOYBOX Cabernet Sauvignon. Our mission; continue to improve and strive to craft the most exciting wine in Napa Valley, vintage to vintage. The 2013 vintage took us to the Northern reaches of the St Helena AVA, near the base of Spring Mountain and just South of Calistoga. It was here, along historic Highway 29, that we would discover an amazing vineyard with a pedigree for producing incredible wines.

The 2013 vintage was unexpectedly superior to the prior, superb 2012. The warm dry spring, followed up by warm, dry, sunny summer brought about an early bud break, an early ripening and an early harvest. We chose our picking date under the guidance of Rebekah Wineburg, winemaker at Bucella Winery, from whom we discovered the vineyard. Based on BRIX and optimum berry flavor development, we chose to pick in the early brisk morning of September 25th. The small cold clusters sat in the cool cellar for a day prior to destemming, crush and a 3-day cold soak. Post fermentation, the wine was transferred into 5 oak barrels, a combination of both new and previously used, where it sat patiently for approximately 19 months. On April 15th, 2015 the 5 barrels were racked, blended and fined for clarity prior to bottling. These 5 barrels yielded 117 cases of wine in total. On October 7th, 2015 the finishing touches were made as each bottle was dipped by hand into melted wax to seal the cork, then repacked into wood six-packs.

The finished wine jumps out of the glass with perfume, currants and cherry aromas. There’s a lush, friendly mouthfeel showcasing bright cherry and supple black fruits along with some clove tobacco on the finish. The tannins are well integrated making the wine very accessible at a young age. Please take some time for yourself to enjoy the many nuances of this single vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, which, at time of release is drinking beautifully and will only improve with additional years in the cellar.
