The Cadden Family Vineyard is a pristine, sustainably farmed 6 acre vineyard planted in 2007 in the North Eastern corner of the Napa Valley appellation, situated on a subtle south facing slope at 800 ft. elevation. There are three acres dedicated to Cabernet Sauvignon on the property, planted in rocky clay loam soil.

2014 was a remarkable vintage by all measures. Rain in late winter followed by a dry warm and sunny summer set the stage for a small but extremely high quality crop. For us, it was memorable for its early harvest and more so because it was our inaugural harvest at the Cadden Family Vineyard. The high stress and naturally limiting conditions in this vineyard are ideal for growing vines that produce dark, intensely flavored Cabernet Sauvignon.

Winemaker Todd Arnold worked closely with the vineyard manager Alejandro Maldonado to choose the optimal harvest date. On September 13th, 2014 the grapes were hand picked in the early morning hours. In the cellar, the wine eased through fermentation quickly and was transferred into French oak barrels to rest in the cellar for nearly 23 months prior to bottling on August 4th, 2016.

Our 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon is nothing short of amazing. Black cherry notes on the nose make way for cassis, bold dark fruits, and hints of licorice on the palate. A subtle underlying limestone earthiness and rustic, chewy tannins entwine to build the vintage character of our hallmark wine.
