2018 was a spectacular vintage for most Bordeaux varietals in Napa Valley and this Cabernet Franc is testament to that. These small clustered grapes were hand harvested on September 25th, the last of our grapes to reach optimal ripeness and full maturity. The juice underwent native yeast fermentation and 15% of the wine was fermented whole cluster ,which boosted structure and fruit aromatics. The wine aged in beautiful, tight grained French oak barrels for roughly 18 months before bottling on June 6th 2020.

The Cadden Family Vineyard is a pristine, sustainably farmed 6-acre vineyard planted in 2007 in the northeastern corner of the Napa Valley appellation, situated on a subtle south-facing slope at 800 ft. elevation. There are three acres dedicated to Cabernet Sauvignon on the property, planted in rocky clay loam soil. The high stress and naturally limiting conditions in this vineyard are ideal for growing vines that produce dark, intensely flavored Cabernet Sauvignon.

Our inaugural vintage of Cabernet Franc, the 2018 vintage showcases the complexity and beauty this varietal has to offer. Aromas of rose petal, strawberry fruit roll-up, balsamic, thyme, and Asian spice transition as you sip to black cherry, dried cranberry, and pomegranate notes on the palate. Medium-bodied, polished wine with soft chalky tannins and a lingering savory finish.
